Barbara Altman Bruno

Barbara Altman Bruno, Ph.D., DCSW, is a retired clinical social worker and is also a size acceptance activist, and one of the founders of the Health at Every Size® (HAES®) paradigm. She has been a local, national, and international leader of NAAFA (National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance), and still functions as an advisor to that organization; an original member of AHELP* (Association for the Health Enrichment of Large People); co-chair of education for ASDAH (Association for Size Diversity and Health); and on the editorial board of Fat Studies (a professional journal). She brought HAES® to Cornell University. She authored Worth Your Weight: What You CAN Do About a Weight Problem, and Health at Every Size, A History. Her mission is to end people’s suffering about weight.
